Last night, on the eve of the Olympics, Wellingtonians concerned about the current situation in Tibet gathered in Civic Square to
Light a Candle for Tibet. The group gathered in a circle and braved the Wellington wind to light their candles. As the candle light flickered on their faces they projected their positive thoughts, their hopes, and their best wishes to remember Tibet, to swiftly improve human rights and for a peaceful resolution to the Tibet issue.

Representatives of Wellington’s Tibetan, Buddhist, and human rights communities will gather at parliament tomorrow at 12.45pm to present a petition to parliament that calls for Helen Clark and the rest of the NZ government to act more strongly on the human rights crisis unfolding in Tibet and to follow up on their recent conversation with the Chinese Government calling for restraint and dialogue.

Wellingtonians concerned about the current situation in Tibet will gather in Frank Kitts Park at noon on Saturday April 5th, to call for the Chinese government to engage in meaningful dialogue with the Dalai Lama and to give Tibetans their religious, civil and cultural freedom.
