Human Rights Olympic theme is "don't play games with human rights"
Teams can register on the day to participate in one, or all three days of activities starting from the Union Lawn on Campus, 12-12.30pm (Tuesday to Thursday) 5-7th August in challenging events such as the Flag Adventure competition (individuals can enter this one), Team Scavenger Hunt, Team Confidence Course, and Team Environment Challenge. Anyone in Dunedin is welcome to enter a team! Each day there will be a $100 cash prize for the winning team plus other prizes from local Dunedin businesses.
Also through the week, Campus Green Party are hosting a human rights movie, Amnesty a Toast to Freedom, and Students for a Free Tibet a charity concert in support of Tibetan children in Dharamsala.
The aim of holding such an event is to raise awareness about the current human rights situation in China leading up to the opening of the 2008 Olympic Games.
Please note: we are not Anti China nor Anti Olympics but Pro Human rights. This is a crucial point to emphasise. We are glad that China will be holding the Olympics as it is an opportunity to open things up for positive change with the impending media presence. What we do not condone are the ongoing abuses that have happened in the buildup to Olympics against the people and the environment.
Come and join the Human Rights Olympics now!!
